Walk-In Clinic vs. Family Doctor: Which Do You Need in Mississauga?

Walk-in care is useful for timely, non-emergency concerns. A family doctor is better for continuity, prevention and ongoing conditions.

Choose walk-in care for a timely concern

A walk-in clinic can assess common illnesses, minor injuries, infections, prescription needs and other non-emergency concerns when you cannot wait for a booked appointment.

  • Cold, flu, sore throat or ear symptoms
  • Minor cuts, rashes, sprains or urinary symptoms
  • A time-sensitive prescription or medical note assessment

Choose family practice for continuity

A family physician follows your health over time. This is especially useful for preventive screening, chronic conditions, medication reviews and referrals.

  • Routine check-ups and screening
  • Diabetes, blood pressure or asthma follow-up
  • Children's, women's and senior care

Know when it is an emergency

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for severe symptoms such as chest pain, major breathing difficulty, signs of stroke, severe bleeding or a serious injury.
