PrivacyPolicy.
How Mississauga Walk-In Clinic & Family Practice handles your personal and health information — on this website and, once we open, in the clinic.
Our commitment to your privacy
Mississauga Walk-In Clinic & Family Practice respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal health information. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
In Ontario, patient records are protected by the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Once the clinic opens, we will collect, use and share your health information only as PHIPA allows — primarily to provide you with care, to receive payment for that care, and to operate the clinic.
Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information:
- Health information you or your healthcare providers provide — such as your name, date of birth, health card number, contact details, medical history, medications, and notes about your visits — so that we can care for you.
- Basic technical information when you use this website — such as your browser type, the pages you visit, and whether you click to call or register. We use this only to understand which information patients find useful and to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally.
How we use your information
Information collected through this website is used to:
- Respond to questions you send us by email or through our contact details.
- Process family doctor registrations submitted through our online enrolment form.
- Count and analyse visits to the website so we can improve what we publish.
- Once you become a patient: provide and coordinate your care, bill OHIP or your insurer for uninsured services, and meet legal and professional record-keeping requirements.
Online forms and third parties
Registering for a family doctor is done through a secure external form service. Information you submit there is transmitted to the clinic for the purpose of enrolling you in our family practice roster. We ask only for the details needed to contact you and prepare your registration.
Our online registration page uses Google Ads conversion measurement to count how many registrations come from our advertising. Google receives only the fact that a registration was completed — never your name, contact details, health card number or any answers you enter in the form. You can opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com or block cookies in your browser settings. Visitors from regions that require prior consent (such as the EU, UK and Switzerland) are not measured.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with marketers. When we engage service providers who handle information on our behalf, they are required to keep it confidential and use it only for the services they perform for us.
Email and text messaging
Please remember that standard email and text messages are not fully secure. Do not include sensitive medical details in an ordinary email. You can always call the clinic to discuss anything confidential.
Your choices and rights
You have the right to access your own health record, to ask for corrections, and to know how your information has been used. As a patient, you may also withdraw or restrict consent for certain uses of your information, subject to legal obligations that continue to apply. You can ask us not to send you non-essential communications at any time.
How long we keep records
Once the clinic opens, patient records will be retained in accordance with Ontario law and the requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Non-patient information collected through this website is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
Changes to this policy
We will post any updates to this policy on this page. When the clinic opens and patient care begins, we will maintain a full privacy policy consistent with PHIPA and our privacy obligations as a healthcare provider.
